The software ships in two editions, Essential and Elite. Both include the core OCR engine, which recognizes text in 138 languages, including Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Japanese and Vietnamese, and works with scanners such as HP multifunction printers. Users can convert PDFs to and from Word, Excel, PowerPoint, HTML, EPUB and searchable PDF, and batch-convert multiple files in one pass.
Editing tools let users add text, images and shapes to a PDF, change font size, color and style, insert links and watermarks, and merge, split, rotate, crop, reorder or extract pages. Documents can be annotated, marked up, redacted and compressed without losing quality. Readiris PDF Elite adds features not in Essential: text and barcode stamps, cloud export to Dropbox, Google Drive, Box and OneDrive, PDF/A archive support, automated document separation by barcode, text or blank page, automatic file naming, and password protection with a double e-signature workflow for signing documents.
