As of late 2026, Speechma's free browser tool at speechma.com is paused: the site states the team cannot currently afford the server costs of running it for free at its traffic level, and it directs visitors to a paid tier, a donation, or the API instead. The company frames the pause as temporary and says the free tool will return.
Speechma Pro, hosted at speechmapro.com, is the paid version of the same voice engine, priced at $1.50 a month internationally or ₹99 a month in India. It removes ads and captcha checks, raises the per-generation limit to 10,000 characters, up from 2,000 on the free tier, adds a dark mode, and runs on dedicated, faster servers. Pro includes a commercial-use license for generated audio, and signing up is a short registration and payment flow handled through Razorpay.
For developers, Speechma also offers a text-to-speech API starting at $9 a month for 1 million characters, called with a simple POST request that returns an MP3 file. The API covers the same voice library, with the site listing 60+ supported languages for that path, and includes commercial usage rights.
Voices on both Pro and the API can be filtered by language, country, or gender, and previewed before selecting one, and Pro adds sliders for adjusting pitch, speed, and volume. There is no indication the underlying voice technology changed; what changed is the business model. A previously free, unlimited, registration-free tool has moved to a mostly paid setup, with a low-cost Pro subscription and a metered API replacing open anonymous access, while the free tool waits for funding to resume.
