Rove is a family photo app for iPhone. Instead of creating a separate photo library, it works on top of a user's existing Apple Photos library and, once switched on, Apple's iCloud Shared Library, so photos a family member takes on a different phone appear automatically in the same timeline.

The app builds a scrolling timeline of a user's photo history and a zoomed-out "photo map" for browsing years at once. It searches photos using everyday language, a place, an event or an object in the picture, rather than requiring saved tags or albums. A cleanup feature finds screenshots, blurry photos and likely duplicate copies and lets the user review and clear them out.
Rove can animate a favorite photo into a short video (around five seconds), generate a new image from a written description, or create a video starting from either a photo or an idea. It also surfaces a small number of these animations automatically when it identifies what it calls a moment worth bringing to life, though the user can keep, change or ignore any result; anything kept is saved back into the user's own Apple Photos library rather than staying locked inside Rove.
Photos stay in Apple Photos and iCloud rather than a second, separate storage service; the app states it does not upload a full camera roll or keep a duplicate library, and nothing is deleted without the user's approval. Alongside the iPhone app, an optional "Rove Live" feature keeps a small, refreshed set of photos visible on Apple Watch, Apple TV and Mac, including moments Rove has animated.
