Description
RelayKite is an open-source project that bridges the gap between large language models like ChatGPT and Codex, and your personal Android and Windows devices. It allows users to connect these AI agents to their devices via a self-hosted, private MCP (Multi-Control Protocol) relay. This setup enables the AI to perform authorized actions such as tapping, swiping, and running tasks directly on your phone or PC, with the local agent executing the action and reporting results back to the chat.

The core purpose of RelayKite is to translate conversational commands into tangible actions on your devices. Instead of just explaining a task, the AI can now carry it out. The system is designed for self-hosted connections, offering a private and secure way to automate device interactions. For Android, an APK runs embedded Python/Node directly on the phone, supporting privileged modes with existing root/Magisk, or functioning without them. After initial setup, the Android component can operate autonomously without needing a connected PC or USB debugging.
For Windows, a background worker handles authorized PowerShell and file tasks. This worker operates independently of the Android component. Users need Python 3.14+, PowerShell, internet access, their own relay, and explicitly configured permissions to use the Windows agent. RelayKite is not a separate AI model; it acts as a device agent that supports the original Codex CLI on Android. AI decisions originate from saved ChatGPT conversations, not from model weights hosted on the device itself, and RelayKite does not train model weights.
The project is open-source and released under the MIT license, making it free to use, modify, and distribute. However, ChatGPT usage and hosting services may incur their own costs, as RelayKite is independent of OpenAI. The platform emphasizes clear requirements and verifiable claims, encouraging users to test on their own devices and contribute to its reliability. It was previously known as Codaki Mini Codex, with release 0.3.0 introducing original on-device Codex capabilities while retaining legacy names for compatibility.
