Description
Explyt is an AI coding agent that runs as a plugin inside JetBrains IDEs, including IntelliJ IDEA, PyCharm, GoLand, Rider, PhpStorm, WebStorm and Android Studio. Instead of relying only on a language-server-style view of your code, Explyt uses the facts the IDE already has: its semantic code model, its debugger, its test runner, its linter and its static-analysis tools.

Before making a change, Explyt builds a precise picture of the codebase using IDE refactorings: it can find real symbol usages, implementations and call hierarchies, and inspect dependency source code, including decompiled code when source isn't available. When debugging, it can set and hit breakpoints, inspect live variable values and follow the call stack to find the real cause of a bug, rather than guessing from the code alone. Explyt says this approach uses fewer tokens and produces safer changes than agents that only read files as text.
Once a fix or feature is written, Explyt runs the project's own configured tests and builds, checks the IDE's linter and static-analysis results, and can generate tests for uncovered lines and branches. It includes a SAST vulnerability scanner that traces untrusted input to dangerous operations, and an independent Review subagent that checks the primary agent's own work before a developer accepts it. Developers can scope what the agent is allowed to touch, blocking sensitive paths with .readignore and .writeignore files, or limiting changes to selected files and folders.
Explyt supports common backend and frontend stacks, including Java, Kotlin, Spring Boot, Quarkus, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, .NET, C#, PHP and Go, along with their usual build and test tools. It also works with agent-related conventions such as AGENTS.md files, MCP, subagents and skills, and publishes a benchmark comparing its results with Claude Code on real legacy-code tasks.
Explyt is aimed at developers working in large or legacy JetBrains codebases who want an AI agent that can verify its own work rather than just generate code. Pricing runs on a subscription-plus-usage model: a Personal plan starts at $15 a month with 80 minutes included, a Pro plan is $200 a month with 1,500 minutes, and an Ultra plan is $250 a month at first (billed at $500 afterward) for 6,000 minutes and access to additional models. A free Community plan is available for developers who bring their own API key or run a local model.

Debugger integration that sets breakpoints, inspects live variables and follows the call stack to find real bugs
Runs the project's own configured tests and builds to verify changes
Reads IDE linter and static-analysis results before finalizing a change
Generates tests for uncovered lines and branches, then checks coverage
Built-in SAST vulnerability scanner that traces untrusted input to dangerous operations
Independent Review subagent that checks the primary agent's own changes
Scoped editing with .readignore and .writeignore to block sensitive paths
IDE-native refactorings for renaming, moving and safely deleting code
Works with AGENTS.md, MCP, subagents and other agent-tooling conventions
How to use Explyt?
Install the plugin: Get Explyt from the JetBrains Marketplace for your IDE.
Pick a plan: Choose Personal, Pro, Ultra or the free Community bring-your-own-key option.
Switch to Debug mode: Point the agent at a failing test to see it investigate and fix it.
Scope the work: Use Edit Scope, .readignore and .writeignore to control what the agent can touch.
Review changes: Inspect, accept or reject each edit, and run the Review subagent on the result.
Verify before shipping: Check the project's own tests, builds, linter and coverage results.
