Description
SAM 3D is an independent, third-party tools platform built around Meta's SAM 3D models, which extend the Segment Anything family from 2D segmentation into 3D understanding. It provides practical tools and APIs so developers and creators can reconstruct 3D objects, people, and scenes from a single image without managing research code and infrastructure themselves.
The platform exposes two model families: SAM 3D Objects, which reconstructs general objects and scenes including geometry, texture, and layout, and SAM 3D Body, which specializes in accurate 3D human body pose and shape estimation from a single photo. Both work from a single image input and are designed to handle real-world images with natural lighting, backgrounds, and reasonable occlusion.
SAM 3D is not an official Meta site. It aims to make SAM 3D capabilities easy to integrate into existing workflows and products through APIs and tools. Reconstructed models export in standard formats including GLB, OBJ, PLY, and USDZ, which are compatible with Blender, Unity, Unreal Engine, and other 3D applications.
SAM 3D's Core Features
Single-image 3D reconstruction of objects, people, and scenes
SAM 3D Objects for general object and scene geometry, texture, and layout
SAM 3D Body for 3D human pose and shape estimation
APIs to integrate SAM 3D into apps and pipelines
Support for JPG, PNG, and WEBP image inputs
Export to GLB, OBJ, PLY, and USDZ formats
Compatibility with Blender, Unity, and Unreal Engine
How to use SAM 3D?
Choose a model: Select SAM 3D Objects for objects and scenes, or SAM 3D Body for human pose and shape.
Upload an image: Provide a single JPG, PNG, or WEBP photo with a clear view of the subject.
Reconstruct: Run the reconstruction to generate a 3D model from the image.
Export: Download the result as GLB, OBJ, PLY, or USDZ for use in your 3D software.
Integrate: Optionally use the API to add SAM 3D reconstruction inside your own product or pipeline.
