Description
Codex Pet is a community resource for building and sharing animated desktop companions for Codex Desktop. A Codex Pet is a local pet package containing a pet.json manifest and a transparent spritesheet.webp, installed under the local Codex pets folder. The site brings browsing, editing, remixing, validation, and sharing together in one workflow instead of scattering spritesheets, previews, and download links across separate tools.
Creators can start from a blank animation grid, inspect a public pet, or remix an existing pack directly in the browser editor. The editor lets users preview motion, check transparency, review animation rows, and run basic checks for package readiness before submitting. Each approved pack is presented with a preview, description, author credit, license, and download path, so users can compare pets before installing them locally. Community submissions are reviewed before publication, and source and licensing records are retained for moderation and rights inquiries.
The platform also publishes guides and documentation covering how to install the hatch-pet skill, create a first Codex Pet, install downloaded packs, and fix common animation issues. Codex Pet is an independent resource and is not operated, sponsored, or endorsed by OpenAI.
