Description
Focus AI is a Chrome browser extension built to block digital distractions by judging each page a person visits against a task they type in plain language, rather than against a static list of blocked domains.

To start a session, a user describes what they're working on (for example, "finish chapter 3 of my thesis" or "physics past papers, refraction") and picks a session length of 25, 45 or 60 minutes, or a custom duration up to 12 hours. From there, Focus AI evaluates each page the person opens against that stated task: a lecture video on the stated topic is allowed, while an unrelated video or social feed is blocked, even on the same site.
The extension is aimed specifically at people who have installed and then disabled other blockers, including students with ADHD. Its distinguishing feature is what it calls the Quit Wall: instead of a one-click "are you sure?" confirmation to stop a session early, a user must type out the full sentence "I am choosing to give up" by hand, with no pasting allowed. Optional Nuclear settings remove the stop button entirely until the timer runs out, and a limited Quick Check exception gives a brief window to visit a blocked site once per session if the AI misjudges a page. When a session's timer ends, Focus AI asks whether to extend it rather than ending the block right away.
According to its Chrome Web Store listing, Focus AI has around 325 users and a 3.8-out-of-5 rating from 8 ratings, figures reported by the Chrome Web Store rather than independently audited. The developer describes it as a solo project (built by a developer identified as Sameed) with support handled directly by the developer.
Focus AI offers 3 free sessions, after which it costs $9.99 a month. It runs entirely as a Chrome extension with no account required to get started.
