The core of ChatGPT Spotlight's utility lies in its ability to bring Spotlight-like search to your ChatGPT sessions. By pressing a custom hotkey (Cmd+S by default), a search box appears, enabling users to type keywords to find specific chats or GPTs. Navigation through search results is handled efficiently with arrow keys, and pressing Enter directly launches the selected conversation or GPT. This feature is particularly beneficial for power users who manage a large volume of interactions and need quick access to specific information or tools.
Privacy and security are paramount for ChatGPT Spotlight. The extension is built with a strong commitment to user data protection, ensuring that no server calls are made and no tracking is implemented. This means your conversations and usage data remain entirely private and are not collected or shared by the extension. The developer explicitly states that data is not sold to third parties, not used for unrelated purposes, and not used for creditworthiness determination, offering a secure and trustworthy experience.
Recent updates have further enhanced the extension's usability. Users now have the ability to define custom hotkeys, allowing for greater personalization of the search shortcut. Additionally, support for multiple languages has been expanded, making the tool accessible to a broader international audience. The extension has also been updated to work seamlessly on chatgpt.com, ensuring compatibility with the latest ChatGPT interface.
