Description
Paperclip is an app for managing AI agents for work, letting you run a team of agents like a company rather than operating a pile of separate automations. You define a goal, hire a team of agents such as a CEO, CTO, engineers, designers, and marketers from any provider, review the strategy, set budgets, and then run and monitor everything from a dashboard.

Paperclip is unopinionated about agent runtimes: any agent that can receive a heartbeat can be hired, including Claude Code sessions, OpenClaw bots, Cursor, Codex, Python scripts, shell commands, and HTTP webhooks. It organizes agents into an org chart with hierarchies, roles, and reporting lines, aligns every task back to the company mission for shared context, and runs agents on scheduled heartbeats or notifications so delegation flows up and down the org chart automatically.
Control and accountability are central. Each agent gets a hard monthly budget and auto-pauses at its cap, with a warning at 80%, and costs are tracked per agent, task, project, and goal. Communication happens through structured tickets with full tool-call tracing and an append-only, immutable audit log. As the board of directors, you approve hires and strategy and can pause, reassign, or terminate any agent at any time. Paperclip is MIT-licensed, self-hosted, extensible, and requires no Paperclip account, running locally with an embedded Postgres or against your own database.
