In August 2024, Day of AI became an independent nonprofit organization, expanding its mission beyond student AI literacy to include supporting teachers in using AI tools responsibly and helping school leaders design equitable AI literacy programs. Despite its independence, the program continues to collaborate closely with MIT RAISE, ensuring that the curriculum remains cutting-edge and relevant.
Day of AI has reached over 5 million students across 170 countries, with 93% of teachers rating the materials as 'Good' or 'Excellent'. The program is supported by generous sponsors who share its mission of making AI education accessible to all. It includes a variety of resources such as curriculum, assessments, and teacher professional development materials, all aimed at fostering a deep understanding of AI among students and educators.
The program also organizes an annual celebratory day to showcase student work, encouraging classrooms to participate and share their achievements. Day of AI is committed to advancing access and inclusivity in AI education, focusing on under-served K12 students and promoting design justice frameworks for human-robot interaction.
