The extension distinguishes itself with its multi-source translation capabilities, intelligently selecting the best translation service and automatically falling back to an alternative if a primary service is unavailable. This ensures a more robust and reliable translation process. Right Translator also incorporates intelligent optimization techniques, such as analyzing long text for contextual accuracy and employing a built-in cache to reduce redundant requests, leading to faster and more precise translations.
A key feature is the 'in-context' translation for input fields. Users can select text within editable input areas, and the extension will automatically detect the page's language and replace the selected text with its translation. This is further enhanced by a convenient shortcut: pressing the spacebar three times consecutively in an input field triggers an immediate translation. The extension supports over 40 languages and regional variants, adhering to BCP 47 standards.
Privacy is a priority, with the extension designed to process selected text only when triggered by the user. Settings and cache data are stored locally, ensuring that no user data is uploaded to third-party servers. The developer explicitly states that personally identifiable information is handled according to their privacy policy, and data is not sold to third parties or used for purposes unrelated to the extension's core functionality.
Recent updates have focused on improving the user experience, including enhanced input field translation with automatic page language matching, a more stable service priority system with automatic fallback, and versioned configuration with automatic migration for better compatibility. The extension is offered by SuperExt and is available in English, Chinese (China), and Chinese (Taiwan).
