Beyond summarization, Rewordee facilitates interactive querying of video content. Users can engage in conversations with the AI, posing questions about the video and receiving intelligent, AI-generated insights in various languages. This feature transforms passive viewing into an active learning and discovery process.
Translation is another core function, enabling users to decipher YouTube transcripts and subtitles in different languages. It supports dual-language subtitles and allows for the free saving and editing of translated or non-translated subtitles as simple text files. This is invaluable for global content consumption and accessibility.
The 'Commentate' feature adds a unique creative dimension, allowing users to invent AI personas that react to videos. These AI-generated reactions can be displayed as on-screen subtitles, offering a novel way to engage with content. Users can also save their favorite AI reactions.
Rewordee offers a range of other features to enhance user experience, including customizable subtitle styles, the ability to download, edit, and upload transcripts as text files for subtitle playback, and a one-click pre-fill option for ChatGPT. Users can personalize the interface by showing or hiding individual buttons and enjoy light/dark modes. The extension supports multiple languages: English, Arabic, Chinese (Simplified & Traditional), French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Russian.
Rewordee provides direct access to OpenAI's AI capabilities, meaning users can utilize their own OpenAI API key for usage. The AI features require a one-time payment of $1.99, while transcript and subtitle features are free. The extension requests 'Read access to browser history' solely to enable the 'Hide/show interface' function across YouTube tabs, without reading or collecting user history.
