Installation of the Kimi Copilot extension is straightforward. Once installed, users can activate the summarization feature by simply clicking the plugin icon while browsing a web article or by using the convenient keyboard shortcut, Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+K. This action instantly summons Kimi.ai to generate a concise summary of the current web page.
The extension boasts several key features that enhance its utility. It is completely free to use, requiring only a Kimi account for unlimited access. Leveraging Kimi's advanced long-text large model ensures that the generated summaries are thorough and comprehensive. The design is intentionally minimalist, focusing solely on the core summarization function without unnecessary clutter. Kimi Copilot can summarize content even from websites that Kimi itself cannot directly access. Furthermore, it extends its capabilities to summarizing YouTube and Bilibili videos, as well as PDF pages, making it a versatile tool for researchers and students, particularly for academic papers on platforms like arXiv.
Additional user-centric features include support for dark mode, allowing for comfortable viewing in various lighting conditions. Users also have the flexibility to customize the prompts used for summarization, tailoring the output to their specific needs. It's important to note that this plugin is a third-party enthusiast development and not an official product of Kimi.ai or Moonshot AI. Due to technical limitations, it may not function correctly on non-native Chrome browsers such as Arc.
With its focus on efficiency, comprehensive summarization, and user customization, Kimi Copilot aims to be an indispensable tool for anyone looking to save time and extract valuable insights from the vast amount of information available online.
