Key features include 'Bring Your Own Key' (BYOK) functionality, allowing users to leverage their preferred AI models from providers like OpenAI-compatible services (Claude, Gemini, Mistral) and local servers such as Ollama. This approach offers cost-effective, pay-as-you-go access to AI, often cheaper than subscription services. The extension also facilitates AI-powered management of tabs, history, and bookmarks, enabling users to organize their digital life with simple commands like "Sort my open tabs" or "Show me bookmarks about product management."
For enhanced productivity, GPT Breeze allows users to select text on any webpage to instantly explain, translate, summarize, or rewrite it. It can summarize entire web pages without requiring users to switch tabs. A premium feature allows for the creation of custom AI tools for recurring tasks. The YouTube summarization feature is particularly useful, providing clickable, time-stamped sections and enabling summarization directly from the YouTube homepage or search results to bypass clickbait.
GPT Breeze offers a free version with core AI shortcut functionalities for YouTube, selected text, and web pages. A premium version, available as a one-time purchase, unlocks advanced features like custom AI tools and enhanced tab/bookmark workflows. The developer emphasizes privacy and data security, stating that data is not sold to third parties and is not used for purposes unrelated to the extension's core functionality.
Recent updates have introduced subscription plans for users without API keys, support for more local models, and AI-powered tab management. The extension aims to help users reclaim their attention, organize their digital environment, and work more efficiently with AI integrated seamlessly into their browser.
