At its heart, ChatGPT Enhanced introduces a significant usability improvement by adding a microphone button to the ChatGPT interface. This button leverages OpenAI's advanced Whisper-1 model to enable voice-to-text conversion. Users can now speak their prompts and queries, which are then transcribed into text and sent to ChatGPT, eliminating the need for manual typing. This feature is particularly beneficial for users who prefer voice input, need to dictate longer prompts, or wish to improve accessibility.
It is crucial to note that all the enhanced features provided by ChatGPT Enhanced require an active OpenAI API Key. This is because the extension relies on the OpenAI API to process voice input and interact with the ChatGPT models. Users must obtain their own API key from OpenAI and configure it within the extension settings to unlock its full potential.
The extension is offered by langpal and was last updated on April 10, 2024. It is a small download, requiring only 151KiB of space, and is currently available in English (United States). The developer has disclosed that they will not collect or use user data, and that data is not sold to third parties or used for purposes unrelated to the extension's core functionality.
