Description
Eigen Engineering Agent is Siemens' generative AI assistant for automation engineering, connected directly to TIA Portal. It is built to move AI from generating suggestions to executing engineering tasks end to end, reducing repetitive coding, scripting and visualization work across the automation lifecycle.

The agent understands a customer's own TIA Portal project, including its Function Blocks, User Defined Data Types, HMI screens and how they relate to each other, so its output is tailored to that project rather than generic. It offers a natural-language interface for prompting and supports document uploads, and its agentic architecture allows multi-step reasoning and self-correction so it can check its own work on more complex tasks.
Its capabilities span several parts of the engineering workflow. For PLC code, it generates and adapts SCL and LAD logic, writes test logic, fixes compile or syntax errors, makes bulk property changes across PLC objects, runs style-guide checks, and produces automatic project documentation. For HMI development, it generates and integrates JavaScript for WinCC Unified HMIs, migrates classic VB scripts to the Unified environment, and sets up dynamic tag behavior. For drives, it configures drives, motors and encoders, including automated setup from spreadsheet imports or guided prompting. For hardware and networks, it automates device configuration from a device list, including spreadsheet-based bulk imports, and streamlines PROFINET network topology setup. It can also give engineers an overview of unfamiliar or complex existing projects, translate PLC and HMI texts, and provide troubleshooting guidance.
All output integrates back into TIA Portal across HMIs, PLCs and drives, so an engineer can review and use the generated work directly in their project. Pricing, purchase and a 1-month free trial are handled through the Siemens Digital Exchange Marketplace (DEX or S-DEX); using the agent requires a valid TIA Portal license (V19, V20 or V21) and an Industry Organization Account, which manages licensing, downloads and installation.
Eigen Engineering Agent is aimed at automation engineers and teams already working in TIA Portal who want to cut routine coding and configuration time without adding headcount. It is not a standalone tool: it depends on an existing TIA Portal license and project.
