Prefect Horizon is dedicated to managed AI infrastructure, simplifying the deployment of MCP servers and providing a gateway, registry, and governance layer for AI agents interacting with business systems. This platform aims to streamline the connection of AI agents to internal systems and ensure secure, governed access. It offers features like MCP Gateway, Server Registry, and Governance.
The open-source roots of Prefect are in its Python frameworks, which millions of developers use to scale their automation from simple scripts to complex production systems. These frameworks are Python-native, allowing users to turn any Python function into a workflow with a single decorator, offering full observability without requiring code rewrites. The open-source components are available under the Apache 2.0 license, emphasizing zero lock-in and self-hosting options.
Prefect's platforms are trusted in production across various industries, including fintech and healthcare. Case studies highlight significant benefits such as doubled deployment velocity, faster fraud prevention with enterprise security, substantial cost reductions, and accelerated integration of AI into internal systems. Testimonials from machine learning engineers emphasize how Prefect's features enable robust infrastructure provisioning and organizational alignment. Users can start with the open-source tools for experimentation and transition to Prefect Cloud and Horizon for production deployments.
