The workspace connects to data from any vendor, internal database, model or file, so a team consumes it in one layout instead of stitching sources together for each project. AI agents work inside the same environment and get access to the same governed data, context and tools as human users, rather than operating on a separate copy of the data. Reports built on the platform update automatically as underlying data changes, rather than needing manual reassembly each quarter.
The Community Edition is free and cloud-hosted for individual investors. Lite is a self-hosted, team-licensed tier listed at $2,400 per year for teams under 10 people. Pro is a self-hosted tier for larger teams at custom pricing. A Snowflake-hosted version is priced at $500 per seat per year for firms that want to analyze their data on Snowflake.
In August 2026, OpenBB's founder announced that the company would release its entire commercial product suite, including Workspace, the Open Data Platform, OpenBB Copilot and the Excel Add-in, under a permissive open source license, after concluding it could not build a sustainable business around the vision within the time available. Existing customers of the hosted products were told they would hear directly from the company about timelines for that transition, so the commercial, hosted form of the product is changing even though the workspace itself remains live and in active use today.
