Mangra offers a native app experience optimized for iOS and iPadOS, ensuring a smooth and modern design. A key benefit is its focus on user privacy and speed, as it avoids image uploads and performs translations directly on the device. For enhanced accuracy and features, a Pro version is available, offering cloud AI translation (processing text only), unlimited AI translations, multiple AI models for superior results, and auto-page translation for full pages. The free version includes local translation using Apple's built-in engine for offline reading.
The app supports various file formats such as RAR, ZIP, CBZ, CBR, and PDF. Beyond translation, Mangra includes features like tap-to-translate for speech bubbles, overlay translate via Shortcuts, and a scroll-friendly mode tailored for manhwa and webtoons. Users can customize their reading experience with various settings. Mangra does not host manga content; users are required to import their own files.
Recent updates have focused on improving the in-app browser reliability, stability, and performance. Features like auto-translate have been enhanced to work in page, double-page, or scroll modes, with automatic retries for failed pages. The Pro version offers advanced capabilities such as AI image enhancement and edit mode for full translation customization, including text manipulation and export as CBZ files. The app also boasts improved OCR for better text recognition and support for a wider range of languages, making it a comprehensive tool for global manga readers.
