Description
Vaquill AI is a US primary law API built for developers. It delivers every US statute, regulation, constitution and executive order through a single REST and MCP API — about 3.5M+ sections in one schema, each with a citation and a link to the official government source. Coverage spans the US Code, the Code of Federal Regulations, Federal Register agency rules, the statute codes of all 52 US jurisdictions (50 states, DC and Puerto Rico), state regulations, state and federal constitutions, the Federal Rules of Procedure, extensive agency guidance, and every Executive Order, Proclamation and Presidential Memo since 2015.

The API is self-serve: sign up, generate a key and authenticate each request with a Bearer token, with usage-based credits that report consumption per response. Each JSON result returns the section citation, title, full hierarchy, a relevance score and direct links to HTML, PDF and the official source. A live MCP server (installable via pip or uvx) gives MCP-compatible clients like Claude, Cursor, VS Code and Windsurf native statute search and section lookup with no HTTP client code.
Vaquill AI is also open source: 'Open US Law' publishes the full corpus on Hugging Face as Parquet, with statutory text in the public domain, the compilation under CC BY 4.0 and scrapers under Apache-2.0, so teams can self-host or let the hosted API keep data fresh. Federal corpora are re-ingested weekly and state regulations monthly, with amendment history preserved. Commercial use is allowed on every plan; the API deliberately covers primary law only and does not include case law.
