This comprehensive approach allows Plag to identify various forms of plagiarism, including copy-paste, paraphrasing, and improper citations. The system is designed to be confidential, ensuring that uploaded files are never added to comparative databases or shared with third-party checkers.
Plag offers a multi-language support system, capable of processing and analyzing documents in 129 different languages, reflecting the global nature of academic research. For educators, Plag provides a free service, enabling schools and universities worldwide to utilize its plagiarism detection capabilities without cost. This initiative aims to support educators in maintaining academic standards and fostering an environment of original work.
The tool's features include a similarity index, which quantifies the percentage of matching text, and a plagiarism risk indicator. This color-coding system simplifies the review process, allowing users to quickly identify and address potential issues. Furthermore, Plag provides direct links to the sources of detected similarities, enabling users to verify the context and make necessary corrections.
Plag also boasts a substantial database of over 80 million academic articles from reputable publishers, offering an in-depth comparison beyond publicly accessible web content. This extensive collection ensures a thorough check for academic papers.
