Beyond writing assistance, Isaac facilitates comprehensive literature research directly within the platform. Users can search and read relevant academic papers, and critically, they can upload their own documents to engage in conversations with their papers, asking Isaac to answer questions about the content. This feature is particularly useful for in-depth analysis and understanding of complex research materials.
The platform also aims to automate various research workflows, especially for literature reviews, with dedicated automated functions. For reference management, Isaac allows users to save and organize documents, making them easily accessible within the editor. This integrated approach aims to significantly streamline the academic writing process, from initial research to final draft.
Isaac is designed for researchers and students, with over 69,000 users from institutions like Harvard, Stanford, and MIT. The tool emphasizes augmenting the research workflow rather than automating paper generation, ensuring ethical use. Data privacy is a priority, with all data hosted on GDPR-compliant servers in the EU. The platform supports 16 languages and is continuously being developed by a team of German and US-based engineers with academic backgrounds.
Isaac provides a free plan with essential features, requiring no credit card. Paid plans offer expanded daily AI tokens, storage, and advanced features like premium AI models and support. While currently desktop-only, mobile support is under development. The company offers a refund policy if the tool does not function as expected.
