Using Golden Record is straightforward. You begin by adding basic details about the record you wish to create. The AI-driven system then helps generate customizable story prompts and conversation starters, such as "What's the thing that life has taught you?" or "Who were the most influential people in your early life?". You can then invite friends or loved ones to respond to these prompts using the app's audio recorder. This collaborative feature allows you to create distinct records for different family members, friends, colleagues, or even for special occasions.
The platform emphasizes the importance of asking meaningful questions and preserving the answers. It creates a dedicated space for loved ones to share what matters most, ensuring their stories are not lost to time. The app offers a free tier that includes one album with up to five questions, allowing users to experience the core functionality. For enhanced features like unlimited albums and tracks, cloud storage, sharing capabilities, and future transcriptions, users can upgrade to a monthly or annual subscription plan.
Golden Record is more than just an app; it's a tool for connection and legacy. It allows you to become closer to the people you care about by understanding their life experiences and perspectives. The resulting audio recordings serve as a profound keepsake, a tangible link to the past and a source of wisdom for the future. Whether you're looking to capture a grandparent's life lessons or a friend's cherished memories, Golden Record provides the means to do so effortlessly. The app is available on mobile devices, but all features are also accessible through their website for users without a smartphone.
Beyond digital preservation, Golden Record offers the unique option to order custom lathe-cut vinyl records as physical keepsakes. These one-of-a-kind records can be personalized with selected albums, tracks, album cover art, and record label text, making them truly special gifts. The process is designed to be user-friendly, ensuring that preserving these precious voices and stories is a rewarding experience from start to finish.
