Description
deco used to be described mainly as an AI-powered e-commerce site builder. Its current site, at decocms.com (deco.cx now redirects there), frames it differently: an agentic operations platform that keeps running and improving a storefront after it launches, priced around the results it delivers rather than a seat count.

You start by giving deco read-only access to the systems it needs: GitHub, Google Analytics 4, Search Console, and a commerce platform such as VTEX or Shopify. Nothing changes without approval at this stage. deco then runs its own checks against that data (the site describes hundreds of checks) and turns the findings into a work plan ordered by estimated revenue impact, covering things like page-speed fixes, catalog reordering, and making a catalog easier for AI crawlers to read.
From there you choose which areas to monitor continuously, such as SEO rankings and indexing, Core Web Vitals, content freshness, the checkout conversion funnel, or exit signals. AI agents take the resulting work: code-level fixes are opened as GitHub pull requests for a human to review and merge, while anything that needs a person becomes a task assigned to the team. Each change can be measured with an in-production A/B test before it is kept.
The underlying software includes Deco Studio, a workspace where the agents operate with context, permissions, an audit trail and cost tracking, and an Agentic CMS that combines visual content editing with Git-backed code changes, locked to a company's own design-system components so local teams can edit content without breaking the brand's standard. The core software is open source and can be self-hosted with a company's own infrastructure and keys, or operated by deco's own team.
deco frames its pricing around outcomes ('paid only on the results we generate') rather than listing fixed subscription tiers, and offers a free, no-install monitoring scan as an entry point. It is built for e-commerce teams already running a VTEX or Shopify storefront who want ongoing, AI-run optimization work rather than a one-time site build; it still carries commerce-oriented positioning even though the product is now broader than a pure storefront builder.
