Upon performing a search on Google, the TruthGPT extension automatically queries ChatGPT to generate an initial response. Subsequently, it leverages Google's Bard chatbot to validate the information provided by ChatGPT. This cross-referencing process is intended to provide users with a more reliable understanding of the search results.
A key feature of TruthGPT for Google™ is its color-coded system for indicating the veracity of information. RED signifies false information, YELLOW indicates uncertainty where the verifier is unsure, and GREEN denotes true information. This visual cue helps users quickly assess the credibility of AI-generated content related to their searches.
The extension is positioned as a counterweight to existing AI chatbots like ChatGPT and Gemini, which have faced criticism for potentially disseminating inaccurate or harmful content. TruthGPT's core objective is to prioritize accuracy and serve as a tool for AI safety and combating disinformation.
Users do not require a ChatGPT Plus subscription to utilize the extension's full capabilities. The developers emphasize that TruthGPT for Google™ is an unofficial extension and not an official Google™ application, maintaining independence from Google™. Feedback and feature requests can be directed to the developers via their GitHub repository.
