Description
Alt Text Generator for X is a Chrome extension designed to enhance accessibility on X (formerly Twitter) by automatically generating alternative text for images. When users upload an image on X and open the 'Edit Image Description' screen, a 'Generate Alt Text 🪄' button appears. By clicking this button, the extension utilizes the OpenAI Vision API (gpt-4-vision-preview) to generate and insert alternative text for the image. This tool requires users to obtain and configure an OpenAI API key through the extension's options before use. The extension ensures user privacy by not collecting or using data beyond its core functionality, and it does not employ tracking tools like Google Analytics. The extension was first released on January 5, 2024, with version 1.0, and has since been updated to version 1.1 on January 29, 2024, to include additional files. It is offered by Shinichi Kogiso and is available in Japanese. This tool is particularly useful for content creators and social media managers who aim to improve the accessibility of their posts on X.
