For editors, Penelope.ai integrates with publishing platforms to enable automated checks within manuscript handling software. This speeds up decision-making by providing transparent, top-level results directly within their workflow or as a full, annotated report. Journals using Manuscript Manager can integrate directly, while those using Editorial Manager or ScholarOne can join a waiting list.
Authors benefit from immediate, helpful feedback on their manuscripts, allowing them to polish their work and ensure it aligns with journal guidelines. This proactive approach helps authors avoid common pitfalls related to formatting, referencing, ethical declarations, and content structure. The tool's transparency means users can see how each result was reached, with checks linked to relevant text sections.
The platform offers over 30 distinct checks, covering critical areas such as ethics (ethical approval, informed consent), declarations (conflict of interest, data sharing, author contributions, funding), title page elements (author names, institutions, word count, keywords), abstract structure, figure and table inclusion, referencing style, and word counts. Users can customize which checks to run, their criticality, and the feedback provided on a journal-by-journal basis.
Penelope.ai is committed to simple, affordable pricing, with costs varying based on annual submission volume. All pricing tiers include access to the full suite of checks and metadata extraction. The service aims to make manuscript compliance accessible and efficient, ultimately contributing to a faster and more reliable scientific publishing ecosystem.
